What Type Of Treasure Is In Your Heart?

Jesus spoke and said: “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. Luke 6:45

What is the verse saying?

It is speaking about the ‘treasure of the heart’.

It is saying that a ‘good’ man speaks things that are good.

It is saying that an ‘evil’ man speaks things that are evil.

It is saying that the ‘mouth’ of a man speaks from the ‘abundance of the heart’.

So in order to discern if a person has good treasure in his/her heart, just listen to the words they speak to you and to others. What does their language say about them? Do they speak good words or evil words? Have you ever noticed or analyzed the words that you speak? Do you speak good words or evil words?

If a person speaks kindly, without malice or cursing, their heart is filled with good.

If a person is boisterous, and almost every word that comes out of their mouth is a curse/profanity or is constantly insulting & demeaning others, then you can say that that person’s heart is filled with evil.

If you are a Christian then you should be speaking with an abundance of good from your heart. You are not perfect and neither am I, so an evil word might slip from our mouths now or then, but it’s up to you to control what comes out of your mouth. Stay alert to what you might say and jump on it before it spills forth. For if you let evil over take your heart with words, then it will also overtake your mind.

If you have a propensity to curse, this will not be easy. The words might spill out even before you’ve noticed them. But if you stay on top of it, you will eventually catch yourself before speaking those evil words.

In Matthew 12:35 Jesus says, “A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.”

Have You ‘Been Born’ Again?

Are you a ‘Born Again’ Christian? Do you know what it means to be ‘Born Again’?

To be born again is to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. To ‘leave’ your old life behind and ‘start’ a new one.

Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.” Luke 17:33

He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.” Matthew 10:39

In the previous two verses Jesus is saying that if you choose to stay in your old ways (your old life), you will lose it for the wages of sin is death. But if you lose your life (your old ways), you will have eternal life through Jesus Christ.

“Being born again, not of corruptible (perishable) seed, but of incorruptible (imperishable), by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever.” 1 Peter 1:23

Jesus said, “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Sprit is spirit.” John 3:5,6

Jesus is telling you to leave your old ways behind. Follow Him and be ‘Born Again’ in the Spirit. If you are not born again, then you are living your life in the flesh and your fruits are of the flesh. (See Galatians 5:19-21. Read my previous post titled ‘Are Your Fruits Good or Bad‘).

If you choose Christ as your Lord and Savior you will be born again, you will be living your life in the Spirit and your fruits will be of the Spirit. (See Galatians 5:22,23. ‘Are Your Fruits Good or Bad‘).

But realize that it won’t be easy transitioning into your new way of life. You will face struggles. The old ways of your life will still exist until you fully destroy them by living in the Spirit. You must not let the fruits of the flesh take hold again.

“And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections (it’s passions) and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” Galatians 5:24,25

“That if thou shalt confess with they mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” Romans 10:9

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13

So, are you ready to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? Are you ready to crucify the flesh and it’s bad fruits? Are you ready to be filled with the Spirit of God? If so, then say The Salvation Prayer OUT LOUD and “sincerely from the bottom of your heart”.

Dear God, I come to You as a sinner and I am truly sorry for my sins. Come into my heart. Forgive me of all my sins. Wash me, cleanse me and set me free. I believe that Jesus is Lord. I believe You raised Him from the dead, and I believe He is coming back again. I ask Jesus to come into my life and be my Lord and Savior. From this moment on I receive Jesus into my life and I decide to live for You and no longer for myself, to do Your will and not mine. Take control of my life from this day forward. Fill me with the Holy Spirit to help me obey You and guide me. Thank You Lord Jesus for saving me and cleansing me with Your precious blood. In Jesus name, Amen.
